Golf Club Membership

You typically hear about people joining a golf club because of the golf course. Some things they’ll say are they like the challenge of the course, perhaps the proximity of it to where they live, or maybe even the history and legacy of that course in the community. While these are all important aspects to take into consideration when looking for the right club (if you’re a golfer), there are plenty of other people who acquire a golf club membership for reasons beyond the course itself.

A good golf club membership is so much more than simply what a course has to offer. Here are some reasons why a golf club membership might be the perfect fit for you or your family, even if you’re not an avid golfer.

Ample Amenities

Tennis courts are a staple of club life, but you may also find things like lawn sports, fitness centers, swimming facilities, children’s programs, fine dining, and the list goes on. Not all golf clubs are created the same, but it’s safe to assume they all include plenty of amenities for their members off the course.

You’ll also likely find that there are enough activities to pack your social calendar for the year. Often events are repeated and access to amenities is generous so making it all fit  within your busy schedule is possible. Talk about making the most of your membership!

Programs for the Whole Family

It’s a common misconception that golf clubs are more of a gentlemen’s club and for adults only. Although there are great singles and couples programs, many golf clubs offer programs for all ages to use their amenities. From junior golf leagues and tennis leagues to date night, family night, and more, there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy. So bring your spouse and kids into the equation because you may be missing out on some prime family fun by searching for a club for only yourself.

Private Event Setting

A private golf club is a perfect place to host events such as wedding ceremonies and receptions, business meetings, holiday parties, engagement and anniversary parties, birthday parties, baby and bridal showers, reunions and proms, school banquets, seminars, retirement parties, and other gatherings. Did we miss any? Whatever the event, you’ll not only have a beautiful setting but the staff can typically help you plan the event and offer top notch service at the event. As an added bonus, being a member of a club means rental fees are often waived.

Fine Dining

Dining may seem like a given at any private golf club, but you’d be surprised by the variety of dining options available. From a bar and grill or restaurant catering to an exquisite wine bar and fine dining, you might just find that your club offers all the above under one roof.

The other part of a dining experience, especially at a club, is location and setting. Private clubs can provide a burger and beer after you come off the course with your friends while also providing an intimate setting on a patio or dining hall for a date night dinner or special occasion. Bon appetit!

Meet New People

The social piece of club life is one of its many great attributes. There are even social memberships for those most interested in the amenities and meeting new people. Whichever membership you have, you will be in an environment where you’ll be able to meet and mingle with new people and have the opportunity to build great relationships. The same goes for your kids! They will have the chance to socialize with other kids in the club through programming or leagues. The people you meet through your membership may grow to be close lifelong friends you see outside of the club.

Networking

They say that many business deals are done on the golf course, which isn't surprising since networking opportunities at a club are vast. At a club social event, you can make many new acquaintanceships that can grow into business partnerships. With networking moving in a virtual direction these days, in-person connection is priceless. People with common interests meet in a comfortable atmosphere at private clubs and make deals that can change their lives.

Casual Golf Leagues

If after socializing, networking, and fine dining you decide you want to head outside to the course to “see what all the fuss is about,” private golf clubs offer casual golf leagues for those interested in checking out the game but aren’t ready to take on the sport full force. You can join leagues that introduce the game at your pace (a few holes with other beginner golfers) or get instruction from accomplished teaching professionals to help build your swing and your confidence.

Playing golf is not necessary to enjoy club life, but it is always available for those who want to give it a try.
